IT'S BEEN A BIT BUSY OF LATE...
Besides a busy production schedule Tim’s role with the Royal Air Force has kept him incredibly busy for the last couple of years. He originally signed up as a reservist to give something back to society and do his bit for his country but when he was asked to join Media Operations full-time for a year he was only too happy to put other projects on hold to help out.
2018 saw the RAF celebrate its centenary year so Tim hit the ground running.
Racing around the globe covering defence stories from Europe, the Middle East, the US and the Falkland Islands became a normal day in the office.
It was a full throttle return to newsgathering and current affairs, set against a backdrop of increased aggression from Russia and ongoing instability in the Middle East.
He covered operational stories for distribution to international media outlets and a varied range of features to celebrate 100 years of RAF achievements.
These ranged from a historic bi-lateral ceremony between the UK and France at Place Des Invalides, Paris to the largest RAF flypast in history, London.
Tim found himself interviewing RAF personnel ranging from the Chief of the Air Staff to the youngest Aircraftman in the service.
He was proud to interview many of the veterans who flew during the Second World War and thrilled to cover the arrival of the RAF's newest stealth fighter, the F35 Lightning.
FITNESS
Throughout the year he found himself on an intense military fitness regeime that didn't do his on screen physique any harm at all.
Posting on social media he said: "One of the silly things that you do as a presenter is keep yourself in shape for that one piece to camera (PTC) that requires you to get your shirt off.
It might only be one shot in a year but fitness isn't something that can be achieved overnight so it's always at the back of your mind. I just wish I'd joined the RAF years ago, I could have saved thousands of pounds on gym fees!"
A YEAR TO REMEMBER
He finished the year by taking part in a historic parade at RAF College Cranwell with the first Sikh and Muslim Padre's in the British military. A fitting end to an exceptional year.
SO HERE WE ARE IN 2019... A MESSAGE FROM TIM:
"As I look back through my my media from the year, all the places I’ve been, the things I’ve done, I realise that it’s people that make life special.
Family, close friends who have become family, my RAF Media Reserves siblings, the welcoming citizens of Croatia during the World Cup final, the incredible veterans who have given so much for our freedom and the kind people who made us feel at home in every part of the UK this year during RAF100. So to each and every one of you I say thank you and have a wonderful 2019!"
ROYAL AIR FORCE ON FACEBOOK>>>
With motoring, news and aviation jobs in Tim's diary before he'd even hung up his uniform things are now looking very busy for the first quarter of the year.
Balancing his work as a Royal Air Force Officer with his on-screen antics may at times seem a bit chaotic but that's just the way he likes it.
