Tim has a serious interest in news and current affairs. He’s a trained journalist with an NCTJ and an MA in Media Production. He’s worked for broadcasters including the BBC and ITV during his extensive career.
He qualified as a broadcast journalist and a programme producer during the 1990's, rapidly becoming one of the UK’s first on screen Video Journalists. Working for L!VE TV he covered major breaking stories, including Birmingham’s gangland murders, the Manchester bombing and Princess Dianna’s death.
By 1998 he'd become the youngest reporter in the HTV West newsroom, covering breaking stories and fun features from around the region.
Having learnt a number of valuable lessons from some of ITV's best journalists he immersed himself into local news and became a regular face on 'The West Tonight'.
As an on screen journalist he interviewed the Westcountry farmers struggling to make a living when the price of livestock plummeted, covered the devastating floods on the ‘Somerset Levels’, chased the ‘Beast of Bodmin’, reported on the decline of Birnbeck Pier and joined the RNLI on daring rescues in heavy seas, besides many other breaking stories.
He’s worked for a number of employers since he last signed off ‘Tim Morris, HTV News’, in a range of high-profile positions, but he remains a steadfast news reporter.
He enjoys the pressure that goes with live television newsgathering and he’s always looking for new current affairs opportunities.
Despite having presented some of the most exciting programme formats on TV, Tim has often said that he would like to return to reporting regional news on a full-time basis.
His work currently includes motorsport coverage for Motors TV and regular news reports for the Royal Air Force’s Media Operations team, a role that frequently takes him to front line locations.
Tim’s packages continue to form part of the MOD’s media output, with material / copy syndicated regularly to national and international news outlets.
He’s recently covered stories including the fight against Daesh in the Middle East, the ongoing tension with Russia in Eastern Europe, terrorism in Northern Ireland, the 'Bloodhound' 100 mph land speed record attempt and the escalating migrant crisis in the Mediterranean.
He’s used to working in fast paced, constantly changing environments and to decision making under pressure.
He’s also very familiar with tight deadlines, flexible hours and overnight call-outs, so he understands the demands of news all too well.
He’s come under fire in areas of international conflict and been caught in the middle of a riot during his time as a reporter, so he has first-hand experience of the risks involved with news assignments.
Trained by the RAF and ITV, he is however fully prepared to deal with extreme situations and he’s comfortable with operating as an embedded reporter under ‘Green Book’ rules.
He’s interviewed many celebrities, politicians and officials over the years for news reports and has a great passion for working as a Video Journalist.
Tim’s good at cultivating contacts at all levels and coaxing the best out of interviewees. He understands how valuable a regional reporter’s relationship with local people / business is and he very much enjoys immersing himself into the community.
He gives every report 100%, whether it’s breaking hard news, or a fun feature. I have bags of energy, an engaging on-screen personality and a keen eye for distinctive content.
